Experts in Comprehensive Small Bowel Care

Finding a center that specializes in comprehensive small bowel care is rare. The USC Small Bowel Center is one of the few, providing noninvasive and minimally invasive treatments for small bowel diseases through advanced, personalized care.

We help patients with a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including celiac disease, enterocutaneous fistula, small bowel bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal polyposis syndromes, J-pouch dysfunction and short bowel syndrome. We also treat gastrointestinal cancer such as small bowel adenocarcinoma and neuroendocrine tumors.

Many of our diagnostic tools are unique to our center. This is why referring physicians choose us to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care solutions for their patients.

Our enteroscopic expertise allows us to diagnose and treat obscure disorders of the small intestine, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, in real time. With these tools, our surgeons strategically design procedures for better outcomes. Our specialties include diagnostic and therapeutic enteroscopy for small bowel Crohn’s disease and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as for preoperative surgical planning of small bowel surgeries.

In addition to minimally invasive procedures, we specialize in noninvasive enteroscopic methods of addressing small bowel obstruction and foreign body retrieval at the small bowel. Procedures such as deep/device-assisted enteroscopy enable us to perform same-day procedures, without the need for surgery, for certain conditions such as small bowel bleeding, retained foreign bodies and Crohn’s disease.
