About Harry J. Wong, MD
Harry Wong, MD, MS, is a general surgeon focused on caring for patients with various gastrointestinal issues. He specializes in performing primary and revisional bariatric procedures and also treats benign foregut conditions and abdominal wall hernias.
He believes in a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to weight management that utilizes surgical, endoscopic and medical interventions. Whenever possible, Dr. Wong offers minimally invasive surgical procedures that improve patient outcomes.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Wong is an active researcher. His scholarly work is focused on advancing clinical strategies, improving medical education and enhancing surgeon well-being with better ergonomics. His research has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals, and he is often invited to present his findings at national conferences. Dr. Wong is an assistant professor of clinical surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
Dr. Wong earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where he also completed his general surgery residency. While there, he completed a two-year research fellowship and obtained a master’s degree in public health sciences. He completed an advanced fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Wong is involved with several professional organizations, including the Society of Surgical Ergonomics, the Association for Academic Surgery, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Outside of work, Dr. Wong enjoys music and dancing.
