About Joseph G. Ouzounian, MD
At USC, Dr. Ouzounian is the Daniel R. Mishell Jr. MD Endowed Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is actively involved in research, teaching and clinical practice, and has published extensively in scholarly medical journals and textbooks.
Dr. Ouzounian is a nationally-recognized expert in maternal-fetal medicine, with clinical expertise that includes prenatal diagnosis, first trimester and second trimester genetic screening, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), obstetric ultrasound and consultative management of high-risk pregnancies. Moreover, he is an invited examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Philosophy of care:
During pregnancy, various maternal and/or fetal issues can intermingle and have an impact on long term outcome. My approach is to understand and treat the patient as a whole, and use my clinical training and experience to help patients achieve favorable outcomes whenever possible.
