Rebecca “Becca” Waggoner, MS, is a board-certified genetic counselor specializing in cancer genetics at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of Keck Medicine of USC. Waggoner provides care for individuals with a personal or family history of cancer to assess hereditary risk factors that may inform care and screening. She provides genetic counseling for a range of cancer conditions, such as hereditary breast and ovarian cancers, hereditary gastrointestinal cancers, and many other genetic conditions.
Waggoner’s research interests include studying the impact of genetic test results on cancer treatment and surgical decision-making. She has also published research on how communication about genetics can be improved with health care interpreters who work with patients who don’t speak English. In her prior research, she studied molecular pathways of how environmental factors can influence gene expression in cancer cells.
Waggoner grew up in Orange County. In her free time, she enjoys going on scenic hikes and spending time with friends and family.
